밴쿠버와 비씨주 그리고 캐나다 해양역사를 보여주는 밴쿠버 해양박물관은 주로 세이트 로크 항해선을 중심으로 항해역사의 자취를 보관하고 있다. 키칠라노 해변 우측으로 활처럼 꺽이는 해변 안쪽으로 삼각건축으로 아름다운 자채를 드러내는 해양박물관은 해변공원과 함께 아름답기 그지없다. 프레드 파러(1901-1954)의 유명한 저서인 St Roch는 그가 죽은 후에 출판되었는데 이 박물관은 그 역사를 영화처럼 보여주듯이 선박 세이트 로크가 그대로 보존되어 있다. 이 박물관을 바라보면 짙은 황토색 커다란 닻이 왼쪽 주차장 앞에 우직하게 걸터 앉아 바다를 바라보고 있다. 그 옛날 해저를 유유히 이동하며 뱃사람들을 지켜주었던 위상을 뽐내는 듯이... 11000권의 해양관계 도서들이 보관된 이곳은 어린이로부터 노인에 이르기까지 모두 즐길 수 있는 역사적 자료의 보고이다. 난파선, 초기 유럽인들의 모피 무역, 심해 탐사잠수기, 등대, 포탄, 해적선, 로크선 등 태평양과 대서양을 가로 질렀던 캐나다의 다양한 해양박물전시관이다. 해양연구의 발표장과 같은 이곳에 아이들의 손을 잡고 오는 많은 가족들을 보게 된다.
