그랜빌 아일랜드는 밴쿠버 다운타운에서 남서쪽에 위치한 그랜빌 다리 아래에 있다. 예전에는 낙후된 공장지대여서 사람들이 거의 왕래가 없던 곳이었는데 1970년 경에 대대적인 공사가 이루어졌다. 새로운 도시마을을 만들기 시작했던 것이다. 그래서 지금의 아름다운 그랜빌 아일랜드가 탄생한 것이다. 이곳 선착장에 앉아 있으면 건너편에 다운타운 건물이 바닷물에 어른거리는 모습이 장관이다. 그 위로 온갖 배가 떠다니고 바다버스(AquaBus)가 여행객들을 이곳에서 타운타운까지 옮겨준다. 도시 한 가운데서 말할 수 없는 신비로운 풍경에 잠시 세상을 잊어버리게 된다. 이 반도같은 섬안에는 예쁜 건물들이 즐비하게 서 있고 예술과 문화 그리고 산업이 활성화되고 있다.

Granville Island is located beneath the Granville Bridge in downtown Vancouver. In the past, it was an undeveloped factory area, where people had almost no access, but a large construction work took place around 1970. They started building a new urban town. That's why the beautiful Granville Island was born. If you sit here at the marina, you will see a downtown building on the other side of the sea that you are admiring. There are all kinds of boats floating on it and a sea bus (AquaBus) takes the tourists from here to towns. Standing in the middle of the city, you forget the world for a moment in a mysterious landscape that can not be expressed in language. 또한 이곳은 온갖 과일과 야채 다과와 다양한 식품류가 가득히 쌓인 거대한 퍼블릭마켓을 중심으로 브티크 호텔, 작은 항구, 에밀리 카 예술대학, 홀스 크릭 커뮤니티센터, 아티스틱 영화관, 영화산업과 예술클럽, 그리고 갤러리 등 관광객들이 눈을 땔 수 없는 아담하고 아름다운 작은 관광도시이다.
